I have included an introduction in my upcoming book Back to Being that summarizes the 2nd insight, as described in James Redfield’s book The Celestine Prophecy. The 2nd insight puts humanity’s consciousness (in the Western world) in a historical perspective. Going back 1,000 years, humanity had God as the center of their universe with the Christian Church and Catholicism controlling this reality, framing life as a spiritual test where individuals relied on churchmen for interpretation of God’s will and their salvation. You were either going to heaven or hell and it was all decided by the church.
When the 14th and 15th centuries approached, corruption within the church led to a loss of credibility, igniting a rebellion, particularly through figures like Martin Luther, who advocated for direct access to scriptures and personal interpretation. This challenge to traditional authority resulted in widespread confusion about reality and humanity’s purpose in the world. Increasing the confusion were the scientific discoveries in the 1600s which further undermined the church’s worldview. As this previous Christian/Catholic reality started to unravel, people grappled with anxiety and confusion regarding natural phenomena, moving away from the earlier reliance on spiritual explanations. The worldview had broken down. A crisis of consciousness, a lack of human awareness of their place in the world contributed to societal challenges.
With this loss of understanding of mankind’s place in the Universe, the Modern Age began to foster a growing democratic spirit along with a widespread distrust of papal and royal authority. To protect themselves from being misled by another controlling entity, the thinkers of the time believed that a method for building consensus was essential. They sought a systematic approach to exploring the new world, developing innovative ways of thinking, and redefining existence. This approach came to be known as the scientific method. Explorers and scientists were sent out into the world to discover the true nature of our existence and report their findings back.
Due to the complexities of the Universe, these new answers have yet to be uncovered and definitively defined. Finding answers is taking a long time. Mankind’s purpose on the planet remains unclear, and there are no concrete explanations for why we exist. So, what do we do while we wait for answers? We turned our attention to the economy and the material resources of the Earth, seeking to improve our standard of living. In doing so, we became deeply engrossed in economic and material securities, effectively replacing the spirituality we had lost. With no spiritual answer looming, we drifted further and further away from the original question: Why are we alive? What is our purpose here on Earth?
This is the point we are now awakening from, according to the 2nd insight.
I believe that a change in understanding, on a scale of mass consciousness, is not one of going quietly in the night. We do not wake up one day and have answers. Change, on a massive scale, unfortunately, comes with a crisis of consciousness. With that feeling deep in your soul that something is not right; that some things do not add up; with a profound sense of loss of how we have been viewing and understanding the world.
I had never considered, on a large scale, the level of belief in the economy that humanity exhibits now, a level resembling worship. The 2nd insight has brought perspective to this reality and has given me an understanding of where we are now in consciousness.
I do not deny my affection for material niceties. I am a lover of dishes, of shoes, of jackets. I’d be the first one to buy a fancy car if I won the lottery. I like nice and expensive things. I am not averse to luxury. Can I honestly say these longings don’t “define” me? I cannot. I struggle with it, I do. Maybe, in hindsight, I’m lucky that I’ve never really had the opportunity for material possessions to define me. The lack of the option to live up to a certain economic expectation has kept me somewhat grounded and very, very, attached to my spirituality; never far from my quest to find the true meaning of life.
My interpretation of the outcome of this most recent election has been that we are experiencing a crisis of consciousness. I was not surprised at the outcome; I’ve been expecting it. I’ve been expecting the world to have some event of a mass proportion; that would spur us into our next level of spiritual growth. As I saw this election unfolding I knew that this was it, no matter who won. This time is going to be the time when we have a collective moment and question our beliefs. It is not fun. It does not feel good. It is not a happy time. Some of us can feel the crisis deep into our souls. It feels like a betrayal of a proportion that we have never experienced. We cannot make sense of it. But if we are going to grow spiritually it is the only way. We are at the time where the 2nd insight describes our new awareness begins.
We are all questioning this division of beliefs, we don’t understand each other’s worldviews. This dichotomy of belief is enough for even the most neutral-minded of us to look for answers outside of our current level of understanding. It is a question of WTF on a much deeper level.
I have yet to discover a psychology that adequately explains these contentious times. However, the channeled writings in my book, Back to Being, have helped me understand why this is happening and how to navigate through it. That is why I have chosen to publish it, even though it feels like a coming out of the closet for me. I have always kept my spiritual beliefs and practices private, but if there is anything I can do to help calm anyone’s fears during this time, I want to contribute. My belief in spirituality and the importance of living a happy, productive life are essential for making sense of these times. If I can share this with others, I feel I have found my purpose. This is how I will contribute.
I have scheduled January 6 as the date my book will be available. I better get back to it.
