I pushed myself to leave the apartment the other day to get some fresh air, taking my notebook with me in hopes that I would write something if inspiration struck.

I picked up a piece of pizza and a salad, then found a seat in the shade at PPG Plaza water fountain. The wind was blowing—more like a heavy breeze, really—and my hair kept blowing into my face (now that it’s too short for a ponytail). Anyway, it was a challenge, to say the least, trying to eat while constantly swiping hair out of my face. I ended up getting pizza sauce all over my face. I must have been quite the sight!

It wasn’t until I had only a couple of bites left that I had the epiphany:

“Move to another chair!”

Eyeroll. How simple.

There were four chairs around the table, one for each direction—north, south, east, and west. The wind was coming from the south, hitting me from behind. So, I decided to move to the north chair and face south. Finally, the wind blew my hair out of my face.

It’s anyone’s guess why I didn’t think of this sooner, but at least I figured it out in the end.

A Life Lesson in Seating Arrangements

Doesn’t it feel like this is some sort of life lesson here? Something about just moving to another seat if the first one doesn’t work? And that the options are all around us?

And each seat, each option, would have had a different result.

We have choices. We can move to another location if the first choice doesn’t suit us.
Not all choices are going to be the best choice, but all choices will produce different results.

You’ll still get that pizza eaten—but whether or not you have constant hair in your face depends on which chair you pick.

That should be a bumper sticker.

Question for the Universe

After all that hair debacle, pizza finished, hair out of my face, I opened my notebook and asked this question:

Q. How can I stop being hopeful to combat disappointment as my hopes and dreams don’t materialize?

A. Yet. Haven’t materialized yet.
Although this response may feel patronizing, we assure you, you have more life to live, more time for your dreams to manifest. You’re not dead yet… so you really don’t have a reason to be disillusioned except for the fact that you want your dreams and desires manifested yesterday. A common human conundrum.

The France Scenario

Let’s imagine a scenario where you dream of living in France and your dream is to go in January, with the underlying assumption that you would write there. In your dream, it had to be January no matter what, and let’s say the Universe complies with your wishes and off you go.

Now, the book(s) get written, and it is a fine time, although there are financial struggles and communication struggles. But the books do get written and self-published.

Well, had that dream been left up to the Universe’s timing…

You would have had a chance meeting with a publisher, in January, who was having lunch at your usual lunch spot. You would have struck up a conversation about your book, and it just so happens that that publisher is looking for a new face and new voice in the genre you write in.

And your soul mate—who you were “supposed” to meet during that same time frame—is now sitting on the same train back at home, where you would have been sitting had you not been in France in January.

Had you waited for the Universe’s time frame…

  • The publisher would have funded the entire France trip.
  • Your new soulmate, a French horse trainer, would have accompanied you on his way to France to look at some horses.
  • You would have gone on trail rides (on a very calm horse) through the French Alps.
  • You would have spit out two books in no time.
  • The publisher would have taken your writing to a whole different level.
  • And, well… let’s just say there are more frequent trips to France that involve horses and trail rides through the countryside.

The Bigger Message

Get the idea?

Your dreams are our dreams.
But when you wait for it, the Universe goes over and above your expectations—every time.

When you feel disappointment over “it” not happening fast enough, reframe it and know:

  • The dream is still unfolding.
  • It’s still coming together.
  • It’s still being organized in the best and highest way for you.

Look at life with anticipation.
What hasn’t come to fruition… yet… is only because it’s not yet the perfect time.

A big publishing house and Père the horse whisperer are in the wings.

Wait for it.

AI Summary – pulling it all together

This post begins with a windblown lunch and ends with a cosmic metaphor. Lynn shares a moment of real-world frustration—pizza sauce, flying hair, and a stubborn breeze—only to discover that the solution was simple: move to a different chair. That small shift becomes a powerful metaphor for choice, alignment, and divine timing.

We often leap toward the first available option—whether it’s a seat, a plan, or a life path—because we’re hungry. Hungry for movement, progress, fulfillment. But when we act from urgency instead of alignment, we end up fighting the wind. We get messy. Frustrated. Sauce-faced and tangled.

The invitation? Pause. Observe. Choose the seat that works with the flow—the one that honors the wind—and eat in peace.

Just like with our dreams, when we wait for divine timing, things unfold with ease, grace, and unexpected magic.

Each chair represents a path.
And the wind? That’s divine flow. You can resist it, or you can ride it.

When we choose without listening, we struggle.
When we wait and align, we receive.

Whether it’s eating pizza in peace, a publishing deal, a soulmate, or a trail ride through the French Alps—sometimes the best seat is the one we haven’t picked yet.
