I am back to maintaining my composure at work after my big blow-up. Clearer minds are prevailing, but now that my mind is clearer, I am really wondering why I am still working there. Are you sick of hearing about this? I know I’m sick of thinking about it.
I’m going to do some pros and cons writing over the weekend. And then just let it go, which actually I thought I had already done (let go) until one of my bosses asked me today to put in writing what my grievances are. It was a good exercise, but we all know nothing will be done about it. There is nothing that can be done. And I understand that. So now the question remains—what can I do?
My therapist had a good thought…
She said once I decide what to do, maybe other options will appear. And maybe that’s the way of it for everything in life. When we are vacillating over anything, does that prevent us from going forward?
I admit that even when I think about winning the lottery, I think to myself that I would stay working to keep things normal; or I convince myself that I’ll never make better money in a similar position; or I think there’s just going to be another crazy person no matter where I go.
And so I stay. Because I don’t have anything better. But if something better presented itself, I would go. Is the therapist suggesting that nothing better is presenting itself because I’m vacillating?
This theme of waiting or questioning my choices is mirrored in my writing life, too.
An author friend was talking about the commitment to the work of being published. Most people who get published or seen or known are because they are relentless in getting their work out there in front of someone.
As in the story of the series of books Chicken Soup for the Soul, they were rejected 144 times (The Most-Rejected Books of All Time ‹ Literary Hub) before being published.
Me? Finally Florida was rejected close to 80 times before I gave up. With Back to Being, I didn’t even try for a regular publisher (until last week) and decided to go straight to self-publishing. I decided if God wanted that book out there, He (not a He) would have to do it. And He (not a He) has dropped the ball.
I don’t have a following that inspires a publisher to take a chance on me so why would I put myself through that rejection? Most publishers no longer do the work of promoting a new author; they want you to already be promoted. But to me that is backwards – if you already have a following why would you bother with a publisher?
But anyway, will I never be published because I’m not going to participate in the exercise of being rejected?
I’m second-guessing everything.
I understand I am responsible for all my decisions, but is there ever a scenario where God jumps in and says:
“Here, let me help.”
“Here, I’m going to show you the way so there’s absolutely no question.”
“Fear not, this better job is going to fall in your lap, so the decision will be made for you.”
“Look at this, your book(s) became viral. An overnight sensation. Publishers will be knocking on YOUR door now.”
Why can’t I be discovered or, at the very least have a job fall in my lap?
And now we have today’s question.
Let’s hear what the Universe has to say.
Q. Dear Universe, see above:
A. Well, if you will be patient and fall back, as they say, and do nothing – in advance – and not try to solve the issue, the dilemma – of any kind – will sort itself out. And this goes for everything across the board. Any question, dilemma, or scenario you may be wrestling with.
For your current job, for example, as you are experiencing now, you are going to work assuming the incident is behind you and you are moving forward, only for it to come up again. And so, you wrote your email as asked. Now let it go again and tomorrow face the challenges, questions, and inspirations as they arise.
The path is always before you. The only time you are off the path is when you try to anticipate the path. Let the path come to you.
You will know in the moment how to respond. You will know because you practice being grounded, you practice being connected to nature – to God – to yourself – and these practices prepare you to respond in a positive manner, enabling your path to continue to unfold before you.
God, the Universe is always there with the path. People just make the mistake of pre-empting the path. So for your current job, keep going day by day and deal with whatever comes up when it comes up.
Let’s give an example of what you or many may feel is a worst-case scenario in your situation.
You do nothing but wait for the days to unfold. One day, quite unexpectedly, you are let go. You are shocked, dismayed, and you beat yourself up because you didn’t prepare. You should have quit first. How could you let this happen?
These are all your thoughts. However, the truth of the situation?
You have now documented your grievance. You can collect unemployment based on your documentation. You are free of the decision whether to stay or go, and the world is your oyster. Jobs fall in your lap because your lap is open for them to fall into.
So the moral of the story here is you do plan ahead, unbeknownst to you, just by facing each day as it comes. You are protected. You are shown the way.
Now, briefly, as to being discovered:
The advice from the Universe is no different.
When you feel inspired to send out a book, do it. That’s all. When an invitation appears related to writing or publishing, follow it. It’s the same. Follow the day, follow the path.
You, everyone, is always guided. Don’t anticipate, don’t stress, don’t worry, and don’t have expectations for a particular outcome other than that the outcome will be for your best and highest good.
Thank you for asking the question.
Hope the answer helps.

How easy can it be? Live in the moment, cause it’s seriously all we have. Let it all unfold, evolve as we live each moment we are gifted!

YES! If only we can do it!
